Kalari Wiradjuri woman advocating for country, community and young people

Proud Kalari Wiradjuri young woman Dhani Gilbert has been a part of community action for a more equal, inclusive and sustainable future from a very young age. Following in her mob’s and grandfather’s footsteps, she has worked for social change to better ensure First Nations Peoples rights and our natural environment are respected. Dhani’s community advocacy and achievements saw her awarded Young Canberra Citizen of the Year when she was just 16 and most recently, 2021 ACT Young Woman of the Year. Currently studying a double degree of a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Environment and Sustainability, Dhani now 20 continues to highlight the incredible contributions of young First Nations peoples in our community. Speaking out on issues close to her heart, while also proudly wearing her heart on her sleeve so to speak, with bold, statement earrings from the Koorie Circle.
